could you help me

Residence Certificate
My wife and i have been in Spain for a year now and we obtained our Certificado De Registro De Ciudadano De La Union on the 06/03/08 via the Asesoria we used to purchase our property, can you tell me how long do these last for and will we have to renew these.

We also registered our E106 forms in Orihuela and then registered with a doctor at our local clinic in Campomaor. The clinic renew our cards every 6 months at the moment which doe's cause a problem when needing further appointments at the Hospital. When the first news of the SIP card alteration came news i asked the Consulate what would happen and was told that as i had registered our E106 we would be ok i also asked with regards to my wife's situation as she is eligible for retirement on 01/08/09, i was told that there would be no problem and as soon as she received her information to register me on the E121 as her spouse the on receiving the relevant document just go to the local Health office to register the new forms.
What is confusing is it that simple or will i meet any problems also how do i get a permanent SIP card instead of the 6 monthly one or should i be doing something different.

All this was done last March including registering on the local Council Padron

Is there anything else i should or could have done.

Hello Den sorry for the delay, its been a little hectic of late, but here goes....First of all your residents certificate has no end date.

I wihs the matter of SIPS was as simple, There seems to be no standard procedure and you may have to keep renewing indefinitely even though you have a permanent SIP card. My family and I have permanent cards but we were issued with these over 4 years ago and as I pay social security this could be why!

Next time I go to Orihuela I will certainly check out why this happens as I have clients who are in the same position as you and have to keep renewing and although they have no problems, it is a pain!

Sounds like you have everything covered!

You can also (in Orihuela) apply for reciprocal European Health Insurance cards from Spain and these last a year, look the same as the ones from the UK but say Spain. Somtimes these are issued automatically, sometimes you have to ask!

However even though I have these, I took a friend of mine who is not retired but covered by the E106 ( 6 monthly renewals at the moment) and she was told you dont need this you can use the E106 and the one from the UK, however we are investigating this as I am not convinced!
