Moving House within Spain
This section is just to let you know some of the things you need to consider before you decide whether it is really worth all the hassle, or whether you should make doubly sure you get it right the first time when you relocate to Spain
A lot of this information is common sense but is given as a reminder of the endless lists you have to contend with –
- If you are registered with the Embassy let them know
- Inform your employer
- Inform old and new town halls
- Inform Social Security & Tax Office
- Have your address changed if you have a Spanish License and registration documents for your motor vehicle
- If moving to a new Province inform both the new one and the previous
- Let your Electricity, Gas, Water and telephone providers as applicable know.
- Let your Doctors & Dentist know that you’re moving so they can amend their records
- Inform banks, Insurance companies, solicitors and anyone else with whom you have accounts
- If applicable, let schools and clubs know.
- With Schools it would be advisable and decent to let them have as much notice as possible, a full term would be reasonable and time to obtain reports and records.
- Have post re-directed
- Arrange transfer of your belongings after you have had a sort out and decided what is and what isn’t going with you.
- Lastly decide if it is worth all the trouble?
