If you don't speak the language - Back to School - Its worth the effort!

If you find yourself in a situation where you need help, it may well be that whilst a lot of the world speaks English, those from whom you are trying to get help may not. It is also very rewarding to be able to communicate with the very people you have chosen to live among.

First learn a few key phrases so you can at least be understood. The average phrase book has everything you need.

When you can remember what to say, find someone who speaks Spanish so you can practice your pronunciation. Failing this you can always take some Spanish lessons both before you move to Spain and more importantly once you are living here. We found that local people were very keen to help us with our Spanish.

You can also find Spanish teachers in the expat press they operate in most areas, you should shop around though as there are a very varying degree of prices. You will also find that even in small Spanish towns many pubs and bars now advertise lessons.
